The Blessing and Official Opening (Stages 2 to 4)

Last Wednesday, we celebrated the Blessing and Official Opening of Stages 2 to 4 at St John Bosco College. These stages include 8 Primary Studio Classrooms, MacKillop Science Learning Centre, Savio Arts and Technology Learning Centre, Middle Learning Centre, de Sales Library Resource Centre and the Administration Building. The ceremony took place in the Assembly Space with representatives from College staff, students, Advisory Council members, Friends of SJBC, parents and invited guests.
Miss Erin Parry, Chair of our College Advisory Council was our MC for the event. Father Mark, our Parish Priest officiated the Blessing and Dedication of our new facilities. Dr Debra Sayce, Executive Director of Catholic Education WA gave an address and performed the official opening and the unveiling of the 5 plaques, assisted by our Bosco students. Ms Freda Ogilvie Whadjuk / Ballardong Elder did a “Welcome to Country” and Miss Narelle Ogilvie and Mrs Tamara Lacroix did a smoking ceremony. The Hon Matt Keogh MP, Minister for Defence Personnel, Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, Member for Burt-Australian Government and Mr Yaz Mubarakai MLA, Member for Jandakot, Parliamentary Secretary to the Education Minister gave their addresses.
Thank you to Miss Woodward and Miss Dowding, for leading us in music and dance today. We had a wonderful, thought-provoking Liturgical Dance from our Dance Team. Our College Choir sang beautifully and our readers read with confidence. All our Bosco students involved in the Blessing and Opening are to be congratulated for their participation and leadership. A huge thank you to our Leadership Team and Bosco staff for their expert and visionary planning and organisation. It certainly was a joyous celebration.
